Digital Video Security Cameras Policy

I. POLICY

The presence of digital video cameras is designed to provide peace of mind to Library users and staff by deterring potential perpetrators by the presence of cameras before committing an offense. Digital video surveillance helps the Library, and when applicable the local police, identify patrons caught on camera violating the Library Code of Conduct or committing serious offenses. The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for the placement and use of digital video cameras, as well as the access and retrieval of digital video images at Dayton Metro Library.

II. GUIDELINES

Staff and patron safety are the first priority in any threatening situation. The protection of Library property is of secondary importance.
