Interlibrary Loan Request

Please note that interlibrary loans using this method may take several weeks to arrive.

Please review the checklist below before submitting the form.
- Make sure the item you are requesting is not already owned by Dayton Metro Library. If it is and all copies are checked out, please reserve the item online.
- Make sure you do not owe $10.00 or more in fees.
- Please use your own personal Dayton Metro Library card. You must be at least 18 years of age to request items via interlibrary loan. We cannot use Outreach, Classroom, eCard, Student, Connection, New (accounts created less than 4 weeks ago), or consortium (Bradford Public Library) cards to place requests.
- You may request books (print only, no textbooks), audio/visual items, electronic documents, photocopies of magazine or newspaper articles (no full magazines or journals), and microfilm. Items requested must be 1 year past the release date.
- If you wish to renew your interlibrary loan item, please call 937.496.8613 or email illdayton@daytonmetrolibrary.org one week before the due date.
Borrowing parameters for interlibrary loan requests outside of SearchOhio and OhioLINK
- Patrons are limited to 1 request at a time, and we cannot request something if DML owns a copy.
- All items are checked out for 3 weeks and may be renewed one time for 2 additional weeks with lending library approval. Please call us at 937.496.8613 or email illdayton@daytonmetrolibrary.org one week before the item is due and ask for Interlibrary Loan.
- Lost or damaged item fees are determined by the owning library.
- Printed copies and electronic documents can be kept by the patron.
- Some items are in-library use only. Microfilm and other items that the lending library designates as "in library use only" will be kept in the Dayton Room at the Main Library for 3 weeks for the patron to view on site.
