Deputy Executive Director to Step into Role on Interim Basis

{June 4, 2026) - In a special meeting today, the Dayton Metro Library Board of Trustees voted unanimously to release Executive Director Jeffrey Trzeciak from his position, effective immediately.

In related action, the Board has appointed Rachel Gut, Dayton Metro Library’s current Deputy Executive Director, to serve as interim Executive Director during the transition. A longtime leader within Dayton Metro Library, Gut brings deep institutional knowledge, steady leadership and a strong understanding of the organization’s mission, operations and service to the community.

The Board of Trustees will begin the process of determining next steps for the leadership transition. In the meantime, Dayton Metro Library remains focused on serving patrons, supporting staff and continuing the work underway across the library system.

Dayton Metro Library Board Forms Transition Committee for Executive Director Position

(June 17, 2026) – The Dayton Metro Library Board of Trustees voted unanimously to establish a transition committee that will investigate search firms to guide the process of the identification of the Library’s next Executive Director. The search committee will be led by Nolan Thomas, Immediate Past President of the Board. Other members of the search committee are Sara Woodhull, Board Vice President and Kelly Geers, Board member.

Earlier this month the Board appointed Rachel Gut to serve as Interim Executive Director during the transition. David Williamson, Board President, noted, “the Board has confidence in Rachel as the Interim Director and appreciates her steady, thoughtful leadership during this time of an intentional, deliberative search process.”

Other updates from the Board meeting include the announcement of Caitlin Wissler’s appointment as Interim Deputy Executive Director, Wissler has most recently been in the role of Public Services Director, responsible for establishing processes that increase internal communications and staff morale.
