Library Giving Day

LIBRARY GIVING DAY

Thanks to a matching gift, donations made this Library Giving Day have double the impact.

Your support keeps the Dayton Metro Library a vibrant place for our community to learn, grow, and thrive!

What is Library Giving Day? It is a one-day fundraising event happening on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 that encourages patrons and library lovers to make a gift , opens a new windowto their local Library.

For 2024, DML is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Bookmobile. All donations made on Library Giving Day will contribute toward a new vehicle.

For 100 years, the Bookmobile has served library patrons across Montgomery County reducing barriers to literacy and resources. Starting in late 1923, the book wagon was created by Electra Collins Doren to serve patrons most in need of library resources. At the time, books were delivered to factory works and outlying communities. Since then, the Bookmobile service has continued to evolve to meet the need in our community. Today, the Bookmobile focuses on early literacy programming for children to reduce barriers to accessing library resources and promote reading readiness.

Would you believe that today’s Bookmobile vehicle has been serving thousands of children across Montgomery County since 2005?
