Early childhood educators in our part of the world are teaching their students about spring. Some of the 'big ideas' they will explore include:
What are the characteristics of spring?
What's happening to the plants and animals in our everyday environment?
What consequences result from the changing weather?
How is spring different from, or the same as, winter or summer?
The science curriculum activities planned, and the discussions that ensue, help young children learn to understand, enjoy and marvel at the natural world. The first-hand experiences teachers provide for young children to learn about science can be complemented by books available at the library. Pairing activities and books enhances comprehension and helps children to learn about research.
