Support DML

The Dayton Metro Library counts on your support to continue providing the best possible service to our patrons. Your donations help the library provide materials, services and quality programs for the public, such as our Saturday Showcase Series, Monday Movies, Internet Basics & Beyond, and more.

Book Donations

Does the library accept book donations?

The library does accept donations at our Main Library in downtown Dayton. Donations are accepted from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the delivery/garage area off of Patterson Street. Donations will either be added to the collection or put into our Friends of the Library booksale.

Volunteering at the Dayton Metro Library

The Dayton Metro Library welcomes your time and talents! There are a number of volunteer opportunities available, and we will accommodate your preferences for location and hours as much as possible. Please fill out a volunteer applicationand mail it or drop it off at your nearest library, and our volunteer coordinator will be in touch with you soon.

Adopt-A-Book

If you are looking for a more personalized and unique way to support the library, try our Adopt-A-Book program. When you adopt a book, you're making a statement - you're willing to personally help ensure that the books our community needs will be available at the library. To thank you for your support, a bookplate will be placed inside each book you adopt. Bookplates can be used to thank an individual, commemorate a special event, or remember a loved one. Donations are tax deductible!

The Friends of the Library

Who Are The Friends of the Library?

The Friends of the Dayton Metro Library is a nonprofit organization made up of our greatest supporters. They are people who visit their library frequently to check out books, read magazines or look for movies or music. They may have children who use the library for school projects and homework. Maybe they benefit from the library’s resources for businesses or job hunters, enjoy free classes and programs or take advantage of our outreach services for seniors. They all have one thing in common - they believe in the importance of the Dayton Metro Library.
