Harrison School Branch Library on Germantown Street in 1925. The school's name was later changed to Wogaman School.
At the turn of the century the Dayton Library provided books to various businesses around the city. The selections of books were often transported to these various sites by library volunteers.
Book Deposit Library at the Troy Pearl Laundry. The period 1905-1908 also saw the beginning of factory visits, with technical collections taken direcly to workmen at the shops. Because of irregular volunteer help, the plan was to eventually replace all the library's deposit stations with bookwagon stops.
Book wagon service began in 1923. The city was divided into three sections and a bookwagon operated from either the Main, East or West Library.
Gradually service from West Branch dropped off and in 1928 Main and West combined.
In 1950 the library converted a used tractor trailer into a bookmobile that was introduced to the public at the county fair. In 1952 a new $10,000 Gerstenslager bookmobile was purchased. The new smaller truck was nicknamed "Little Toot" and the trailer unit was called Big Honk.
