The Library will be full of heroes this fall! You may see a police officer reading a picture book to preschoolers, firefighters talking about their jobs with teenagers, or hospital personnel offering tips on injury prevention. It's all part of a new initiative called Be A Reading Hero, which connects first responders with children and families at the Library.

Dayton Metro Library's role as a community center makes it the perfect location for first responders to meet and build relationships with the people they serve. From fire safety for children, to cyber safety for teens and disaster preparedness for adults, the information these professionals have to share is invaluable.

As part of the Be A Reading Heroes initiative, the Library is assembling Cruiser Bags for first responders to use on the job. Cruiser Bags contain books, stickers, and small toys intended to provide comfort and distraction to children in emergency or stressful situations.

Check out these exciting programs below and get to know your local Reading Heroes!
