DATE: Wednesday, May 21, 2014, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

LOCATION: Courthouse Square, Third & Main Street Downtown Dayton

The Dayton Metro Library kicks off its annual Summer Reading Club with a community event at Courthouse Square. Visit the Bookmobile and pick up information on Summer Reading Clubs for different age groups. Friendly library staff will be available to answer questions.

Summer Reading Clubs run May 21 through August 2 at all Dayton Metro Library locations. There is a club for everyone in the family, from babies to adults. In addition to earning incentives for reading, participants can explore science, delve into local history, improve computer skills, create imaginative crafts and much more with free programs all summer long.

The theme this year is STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Children who participate in summer reading and keep their brains active are more likely to avoid "summer slide" - the loss of academic skills over summer break.

The Dayton Metro Library Summer Reading Kickoff is free and open to the public.
