"Foundations should have glass pockets" said the chair of the Carnegie Corporation over 50 years ago, around the time when the Foundation Center was created. With the Internet and social networks it's easier than ever for foundations to communicate openly about their work. That's the idea behind the new Foundation Center website Glasspockets.org. You can go there to learn about grantmaking in the arts, education, climate change, healthcare, and poverty.
You'll also find a list of nearly 500 foundations that communicate on Twitter, Facebook, or otherwise use "Web 2.0." By the way, here's The Dayton Foundation on Twitter. |
