Dayton is one of only seven cities across the nation to receive funding from the Bill  & Melinda Gates Foundation  through a grant  program that aims  to boost college graduation rates.

The grant program focuses on community colleges like Sinclair.   They are seeing ever-higher enrollment but graduation rates are lower than desired, partly because the students often work and raise families while completing their degrees.
