Teens Take Over the Library

FandomFest Lock-In at Miami Township Branch

After the doors close at the end of the day, the patrons have gone, and the Library is quiet for the night… teens will take over the Miami Township Branch Library! It’s an after-hours FandomFest Lock-In on Saturday, February 17, 7:00-11:00 p.m. at the Library located at 2718 Lyons Road. With a breakout room, cosplay contest, gaming, scavenger hunt, crafts and more, the Library will be in full celebration mode.

“Doctor Who, Supernatural, Riverdale, anime – whatever it is, we’re celebrating fandom of all sorts,” said Steve Moser, Teen Services Coordinator for the Library.

Teens can make pancakes at a pancake station, create crafts throughout the night, compete in gaming tournaments or enter the cosplay contest for prizes

Facebook Live will broadcast from the event throughout the evening. Teen Services Librarian Liz Schumacher will host the broadcast, periodically taking viewers through activities as they unfold.

“I'm most excited about the cosplay contest because it's interesting to see what ideas teens come up with – they can be pretty creative!” said Schumacher.

A signed permission slip is required to attend the lock-in, but permission slips can be signed and turned in on arrival.
