Dayton Metro Library Celebrates Black History Month

Committing to Racial and Social Equity

Dayton Metro Library, along with over 130 public library systems across the United States and Canada, has signed on to a statement by the Urban Libraries Council detailing its commitment to achieving racial and social equity by contributing to a more just society.

“We owe this to the communities we serve, particularly the most marginalized members,” said Rachel Gut, Deputy Executive Director. “During Black History Month, I encourage everyone to visit their Library, see what we are doing, and learn about the past and discover ways to get involved in making our communities more inclusive and just.”

A sampling of Black History Month programs and activities is below. Library programs are free and open to the public. For more information, visit DaytonMetroLibrary.org or call (937) 463-2665.
