Author Maggie Stiefvater Visits Library November 13
To celebrate the upcoming visit of NY Times bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater, the Dayton Metro Library invites teens to enter a Stiefvater Fan Art Contest, open through the month of October. Stiefvater is the author of many popular novels for teens, including The Raven Cycle, The Scorpio Races, Wolves of Mercy Falls and Books of Faerie.
“Since Maggie Stiefvater is an established visual artist as well as author, we thought that having an art contest in her honor would be a very appropriate way to welcome her to Dayton,” said Maeghan Dolan, Teen Services Librarian. The contest is open to teens in grades 7 through 12, with categories for drawing, mixed media, digital art, photography and painting. Judging will be divided by age group and media.
“Stiefvater is well known for her paranormal fiction for teens, including books on faeries, magic, werewolves, ghosts, and more, so we expect to see all kinds of ravens, wolves, faeries, tarot art and cool cars,” said Dolan, “but we’ll accept any art inspired by Stiefvater’s books. We’re eager to see what the artists come up with.”
Entries in the contest will be accepted through October 31 via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or submitted in person at any Dayton Metro Library location. Maggie Stiefvater visits the Main Library on Monday, November 13, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Eichelberger Forum. The program is free but advance registration is recommended.
