When the new Main Library opens in downtown Dayton, one of the assets it will offer is year-round Sunday hours of operation.
“Sundays are popular at the Library,” said Kimber Fox, Main Library Manager. “Families visit the Library together, researchers get work done and people stop by to pick up their next favorite book or movie. We’re happy we will be able to offer the services of the Main Library on Sundays year round.”
Traditionally, all Dayton Metro Library locations have been closed on Sundays during the summer months. While the Main Library was undergoing construction, the Miami Township, Northwest and Temporary Downtown Branches offered Sunday hours, but as in the past, these hours were discontinued for the summer.
The Main Library Grand Opening and Community Celebration takes place on Saturday, August 5, 12:00-5:00 p.m. There will be free entertainment, activities for the family, tours and demonstrations in the extensively remodeled, expanded Library. Regular operating hours resume on Sunday, August 6, 1:00-5:00 p.m. and Sunday hours will continue at the Main Library throughout the year.
Dayton Metro Library hours of operation are:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Sunday (Main Library Only, starting Aug. 6) 1:00-5:00 p.m.
