“Being Mortal” Screening & Conversation

at the Dayton Metro Library

Frontline Being MortalNew Lebanon, Huber Heights and Miami Township Branches

In 2015, the PBS documentary series Frontline followed renowned writer and Boston surgeon Atul Gawande as he explored the relationship between doctors and their patients nearing the end of life. Gawande’s acclaimed book, Being Mortal, shows how doctors are often untrained and uncomfortable talking about chronic illness and death with their patients.

The Dayton Metro Library hosts a free screening of Frontline’s “Being Mortal” documentary, then invites participants to join a guided conversation about identifying and communicating end-of-life preferences. The free screening is made possible by a grant from The John and Wauna Harman Foundation in partnership with the Hospice Foundation of America.
