More than 32,000 Montgomery County voters were purged from the voter rolls last year in an effort to clear the databases of inactive voters. Citizens who have not voted since 2008 may no longer be registered. In order to vote in the upcoming Presidential election on November 8, voters must be registered by October 11, 2016.
All branches of the Dayton Metro Library system are participating in National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 27. Partnering with the League of Women Voters of the Greater Dayton Area, each Library will have both League volunteers and staff on hand to verify registration status and update voter registrations.
“Individuals can register or update their voter registrations at any Dayton Metro Library location any day of the year,” said Jennifer Spillman, Main Library Manager. “But with the deadline looming for this year’s Presidential election and the recent inactive voter purge, we’re happy to work with the League of Women Voters on National Voter Registration Day, September 27.”
