The Dayton Metro Library and Rosewood Arts Centre are bringing books and art together with innovative opportunities for both adults and children. The cooperative venture includes a revolving collection of art books at the Gallery, located at 2655 Olson Drive in Kettering, an adult book club and Art Start, a preschool storytime.
The Book Nook at Rosewood Gallery provides materials on art methods and movements that coordinate with the Gallery's current exhibits. Visitors to the Book Nook can explore artistic inspirations and discover new treasures in the books provided by Dayton Metro Library.
For a more interactive experience, art and book lovers age 16 and older meet quarterly at the Rosewood Gallery Book Club. Discussion focuses on books featuring art or artists as central elements. Stop by the Wilmington-Stroop Branch Library, 3980 Wilmington Pike, starting six weeks prior to each meeting to pick up the book for the next discussion. Upcoming meetings are Monday, July 18 and Monday, Oct 17 at 6:30 p.m.
Parents can foster an early love of art and reading in children with Art Start Preschool Storytime. Children ages 3-6 and a parent or caregiver can enjoy stories read by a librarian, then hands-on crafts led by a Rosewood instructor. Art Start Preschool meets the third Monday of each month, 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. at Rosewood Arts Centre in Kettering. Next meeting dates are June 20, July 18 and August 15
