Winners of Teen Fiction Contest Announced

The Dayton Metro Library celebrates local creative teens with the announcement of the winners in its 2016 Teen Fiction Contest.

“We were very pleased with the turnout of more than 50 entries in this year's contest,” said Teen Services Coordinator Steve Moser. “There was an amazing variety of stories in every category that really showcased the creative talent of our area teens.”

More than 10 different schools are represented among the winners, which were selected by judges Sharon Short, Michelle Bolanger and Meredith Doench. Winners receive cash prizes courtesy of the Friends of the Library and all the winning stories will be posted here.

Dayton Metro Library Teen Fiction Contest Winners, 2016:

7-8th Grade Flash Fiction:

1st  - Lily Wissler (West Carrollton Middle School)
2nd - Caitlin Bowling (Pathway School of Discovery)
3rd - Mila De Spain (Stivers School for the Arts)
Honorable Mention - Autumn Kern (ECOT)

7-8th Grade General Fiction:

1st - Ben Kneblik (home school)
2nd - Audrey Kneer (Saint Peter School)
3rd - Sophia Toth (Kettering Middle School)

9-12th Grade Flash Fiction:

1st - Emily Bronwyn Hinkle (Treca Digital Academy)
2nd - Taryn Howard (Fairmont High School)
3rd - Helen Sparrow (Chaminade-Julienne)

9-12th Grade General Fiction:

1st - Dorothy Seabrook (Fairmont High School)
2nd - Mary Alice Gebhart (DECA)
3rd - Jessica Salguero (Fairmont High School)
Honorable Mention - Alexis Weaver (Fairmont High School)
Honorable Mention - Rose Tyler (Beavercreek High School)
