Local Authors Event Showcases Writing Talent in the Miami Valley

Writers, readers and book lovers of all sorts are invited to the fourth annual Dayton Metro Library Local Authors Event on Saturday, April 30, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Sinclair Community College’s Ponitz Center. The Local Authors Event combines with the Dayton Book Expo to offer a day-long celebration of books. More than 100 authors will be present.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Dayton Book Expo again this year,” said Jennifer Spillman, Manager of the Temporary Main Library in downtown Dayton. “It’s a joy to be part of something so inspiring that encourages writers to keep on writing, helps readers discover new books and oftentimes, new friendships to emerge.”

Authors in attendance include:

  • Brian Forschner, author of Cold Serial: The Jack the Strangler Murders
  • Doug Coates, author of the children’s title Pitching for Success; Character Lessons the Joe Nuxhall Way
  • Raymond Szymanski, author of Fifty Shades of Greys: Evidence of Extraterrestrial Visitation to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Beyond
  • Joanne Huist Smith, former Dayton Daily News reporter and author of a memoir, The 13th Gift, A True Story of a Christmas Miracle
  • Shaunta Kenerly, who sold more books than any other author at last year’s event

The event is free and open to the public. For more information about the Local Authors Event, call (937) 463-BOOK. Information about the Dayton Book Expo can be found at DaytonBookExpo.com.
