The Dayton Metro Library will cease its participation in Ohio Libraries Share/MORE on Jan. 1, 2010. We are sorry that this may affect you and hope you will understand our need to cut costs. Because the library will be operating with $1 million less than it did in 2008, we need to operate with fewer staff. The MORE service takes a great deal of staff time and in eliminating this service, we can operate with fewer staff. We continue to share the catalog and borrowing with our consortium members: Bradford Public Library, Germantown Public Library, and Troy-Miami County Public Library. Most titles are available for requesting. We also continue our Interlibrary Loan service. Interlibrary Loan allows you to obtain items not owned by DML from other libraries around the country. You are allowed 8 requests in process at one time. The service takes 2-3 weeks, and with the exception of microfilm, most items can be sent to the branch of your choice for pick-up. Read the complete Inter-Library Loan Policy. You can request books, photocopies of magazine and newspaper articles, and census and genealogical microfilm. Audiovisual material (i.e. videos, records, CDs, slides), manuscript collections, hard copy issues of magazines or newspapers, or computer software are not available to request. In addition, you cannot request items that DML owns or has on order. You can place a request in person at any DML location, or you can call 937-496-8910. There is a service charge of $ .50 for each title and the lending libraries may charge for photocopies of articles. |
