Only some final details for the new Main Library remain in development. The lot at the corner of Third Street and Patterson Boulevard will serve as the construction headquarters for the Library's major downtown revitalization efforts that include reconstructing and expanding the Main Library, transforming a vacant lot into attractively landscaped parking and potential development space, and renovating the historic Sachs-Pruden (Hauer) Building to serve as the operations center and temporary Main Library. Site work will begin around the Main Library in the fall.
Construction of the new Northwest Branch and the Miami Township expansion begins this summer. Meanwhile, the renovation of the E.C. Doren Library Branch is well underway. We will open its doors before the year's end.
Design work on the first Segment 2 projects will start this summer. The ability to identify and acquire desired properties will drive the final determination of which neighborhood libraries will be in this segment. Please check back for updates.
