There are lots of books for children and adults, plus CDs, DVDs and more, all at bargain basement prices.
Information about the next Booksale will be announced soon. Stay tuned for more information.
We are able to accept cash or check with proper ID and credit card payment. The Friends of the Library will invoice schools who present Purchase Orders at the sale.
There are no special preview days or hours. All booksale hours are open to the public.
Most of the materials sold at the booksale are "weeded" from throughout the Dayton Metro Library system. Weeding is a vital part of maintaining a useful Collection, as older and duplicate items are regulary removed in order to make room for new items. Weeded items are placed in off-site storage for the next booksale; donations that cannon be used in our Collection make up the rest of our booksale items.
Old and new books for all ages, plus audio visual materials, books on tape and CD, and more. We start with more than 40,000 items covering 240 tables. There's something for everyone!
Possibly, but the books at booksale are only categorized into tables of children's and adult Fiction and Nonfiction, and paperbacks. They are not grouped by subject, author, etc.
All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library organization. With these funds, the Friends provide incentives for Summer Challenge, sponsor speakers and help support branch programs that fall outside the general operating budget of the Dayton Metro Library. Information about the Friends and what they do with the proceeds can be found here.
The Dayton Metro Library and Friends of the Library accept donations of books and audio-visual items for our annual book sales. Donations are accepted at all Dayton Metro Library locations. Due to space limitations we can only accept two boxes per location.
We can write you a receipt for tax purposes if you like. Call or email Dave Hicks (Volunteer Services Manager) 937.496.8638 / email@example.com if you need more information on donating book sale materials. Unfortunately we are not able to pick up your donations.
Donations we cannot accept include:
If you have something on this list that we can't accept, please call Goodwill, St. Vincent DePaul or other thrift shops or vintage book collectors.
