Learning to Identify the Letters of the Alphabet

A book with repetitive text can be useful for helping children learn to recognize letters. Point to the repetitive words as you read them. If, for example the phrase is, "It's a tiger!" point to and identify the letter "t" in tiger and explain that it represents the /t/ sound in 'tiger'. Repeat this in future appearances of the sentence, and then ask your child to point to the letter "t" in 'tiger'.
