Why do you think that?

There are many skills that are important to a becoming a good reader that are also important for learning about science. Some of the common abilities include: predicting what might happen next, understanding the relationship between events in a sequence, a rich vocabulary, and the ability to recall past experiences that are related to the current topic under study. One way to help children master these skills, is to ask them to explain their reasoning when they offer up answers or a statement. Young children learn much more when they are given repeated opportunities to talk about their ideas and thoughts.
