If you can make the process of going to bed a special time of connectedness and cuddling, getting your little one to cooperate during this transition might be easier.  If you can start your bedtime ritual forty-five minutes to one hour before your child’s actual bedtime hour to reduce stress.  Offer choices but stick to a bedtime ritual.  The more predictable things are, the easier it is for your child.  Conversing and reading aloud in bed as the last activity of the day is a great way to help your child relax and experience how tired they really are.
