Preschoolers are learning to delay gratification, control their impulses, and to sometimes share their possessons. You can help your little ones improve these skills by letting them know you understand their feelings and care about what they want. Once they feel heard, be clear about your expectations of what is acceptable. You might be able to avoid meltdowns, by attempting to give them them some control over the situation. Try asking if they would like to give up their toy in five or ten minutes. Let them set a timer with your help.
