There are many reasons to bring a wide variety of music into your child’s life. For one, when children listen to different types of music and different instruments, they develop an awareness of differences in pitch, tone, and rhythm. Even very young babies notice when one egg shaker sounds different from all the others. This ability to discriminate sounds is a stepping stone on the way to learning phonics. Singing songs gives children a natural way to practice language and deciphering meaning.
