Letter Knowledge

Learning to tell one letter from another involves being able to see the differences in letter shapes. A child with automatic, accurate recognition of letters will have an easier time learning about letter sounds and word spellings than a child who does not know the letters of the alphabet.
Tips for reading alphabet books:

  1. Choose books on topics of interest to your child
  2. Don’t worry about reading the book from cover to cover…keep it fun
  3. Ask your child to trace some of the letters with his finger
