June 20-26 is National Pollinator Week. It’s time to celebrate bees and all they do for the planet. Most young children are interested in insects and the topic of bees is a rich one. First ask your child what he or she knows about bees. Where do they live? What do they eat? Do they all make honey? Do all bees sting? Check out this Live Cam to get a close up look at some honeybees. What is that yellow stuff on some of their legs? Why might we want to care for bees despite their painful sting? Boonshoft Museum of Discovery has a live honey bee hive in its Meadwestvaco Treehouse exhibit and they are offering some special public programming on pollinators from June 19 - 25.
