It's not too late to sign up for the Get Outside Bookclub for preschoolers and their grownups because it goes through October 10. Participants will read at least six nature themed picture books and do six activities outside together. Come to your local branch and when you register, you'll recieve bookmarks with lists of suggested titles which are available at the Dayton Metro Library.

Why not start your participation with a nature scavenger hunt?

Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, water bugs, tadpoles, frogs, mud turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, trees to climb. Brooks to wade, water lilies, woodchucks, bats, bees, butterflies, various animals to pet, hayfields, pine-cones, rocks to roll, sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets. And any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of education.
