I don't know about you but about this time of year, I own several mateless gloves. That's why I was attracted to Happy Gloves. Miyako Kanamori created soft sculpture creatures from knit gloves and placed photos of them in line drawings with very simple text: "Third comes a tiny frog who loves the rain." It is not really a book to read aloud so much as an interesting book of pictures to look at and talk about with your child. You can make the book really come alive by following the directions (in the back of the book) on how to make the creatures yourself with your own singleton gloves.
