Kettering-Moraine

What's happening with my library? - Kettering-Moraine

Overhaul Planned for Kettering-Moraine Branch

The Kettering-Moraine Branch Library will soon undergo a comprehensive renovation that will maximize space and improve access. Popping the roof and slightly extending the west wall in the center section of the building will add more natural lighting. The revised floor plan will create distinct spaces for adults, teens, and children, and allow for a larger meeting room and the addition of small study rooms.

Although the building is landlocked, the design will take greater advantage of the limited green space. The architects are exploring ways to create a safer entrance and exit for cars, bicycles, and pedestrians. Plans also call for leveling the parking lot to remove the hazard of the two tiers and stairs.

The building is being designed by Ruetschle Architects, a member of the Dayton Design Collaborative, working in conjunction with Group 4 Architects who bring nationwide library design experience to the project. Shook Construction is providing construction management services.

What is the timing for my library?

Construction is anticipated to begin in late summer of 2015. To maximize dollars for permanent Library improvements, the Kettering-Moraine Branch may offer limited services out of a temporary location during construction, or patrons will be encouraged to visit the Wilmington-Stroop or West Carrollton branches. A grand re-opening is slated for spring of 2016.
