Children love it when adults are silly and having a good time. If you bring fun into your reading aloud time, children will be more attentive and responsive. Read books that you enjoy or think are funny. Be as expressive as possible: use different voices for the characters, make eye contact with your listeners, vary the loudness of your voice and pause for effect. Mem Fox gives more great advice for reading aloud on her website.
