This one-hour PowerPoint program by local historian Leon Bey is a survey of notable Dayton-area architecture from a layman's point of view. However, professional advice was sought from local architects in selecting the buildings featured in this program. Years from now, this presentation will be a snapshot of architecture existing locally in 2013. We'll include the Newcom Tavern plus the venerable 1850's Old Courthouse of outstanding Greek Revival Architecture; but what about the remarkable cut stone blocks of the 1878 Cooper Block saved by local activists from the landfill along with the stunning 1886 Lafee Building that could have had the same fate? Other examples include Dr. Walter's home, Dayton Bicycle Club, The Engineers Club, Dayton Woman's Club, UB/Knott/Center City Building, Kuhn's Building, Arcade, Algonquin Hotel, I. M. Pei Building, Schuster Center, Old Post Office, both Y's plus many more.
