Write a Winning Resume

Don't miss experts from the Montgomery County Job Center as they present "How to Write a Powerful Resume" at 7:00 PM, June 15 at the Belmont branch. This interactive session shows you the what, where, why, and how of resumes. After you get the concepts down, reserve a session at a library PC to write your resume with Winway resume writing software. The library has recently purchases this program which guides you through the resume writing process with a wizard, Autowriter, Resume Auditor, and many other excellent tools. The software also allows you to customize the appearance of your resume with a wide selection of graphical themes. Winway is available for your use free of charge.

Job Center Programs

Did you know that Montgomery County is home to "the largest one-stop employment and training center in the United States?" It's called the Job Center and this excellent facility has been held up as a model for organizations of its kind throughout the country. The Job Center offers three workshops on an ongoing basis:

How to Write a Powerful Resume - Tuesdays at 10:00 A.M.

Job Search Strategies 101 - Wednesdays at 2:00 P.M.

Interviewing Skills - Thursdays at 10:00 A.M.

Class size is limited. Call 937-225-5627 to register. The Westwood branch librar y will also be hosting "How to Write a Powerful a Resume" at 6:30 P.M. on May 7 and "Interviewing Skills" at 6:30 P.M. on May 12.

Go Green

Earth Day is in April and the Belmont branch library is celebrating with a Go Green Craft. We will be using recycled items to make crafts like book journals. Come learn ideas to help keep our Earth green at 6:30 this Monday, April 20.

Open Lab!

Beginning this Monday, the Main library will be hosting open lab sessions in the wireless laptop lab on the second floor. These sessions are restricted to job hunting activities such as resume writing, online job applications, or job searching. These will be two or three hour sessions so customers will not be timed out of finishing applications or other tasks. There will be some help available for basic computer use issues but this does not include career counseling or resume review. Of course, our librarians can always direct you to resources for help on these subjects. Dates and times for open labs:
