 What happens when you genetically engineer vampires so that they have darker skin? You develop a creature that is far more superior to that of any being and wreak havoc on all of those involved. Shori is one of these altered creatures of night. Due to a general unrest in the vampire world because of this experimentation, Shori's family is murdered and Shori sustains serious wounds. Only she survives but that is enough. She is an amazingly cunning vampire and she will do everything she can to find out who has killed her family. During her quest for the truth, we discover the intricacies of Shori's world including the way in which the vampires survive within their clans and in the world among humans. This suspenseful, unique story is read with passion by the amazing narrator: Tracey Leigh. This is Octavia E. Butler's final novel before her death in 2006 and it is as incredible as her other works. This audio book is recommended for adults who enjoy vampire and science fiction novels.
