Lara Lington, twenty-something resident of London isn't having a good week. Her boyfriend, Josh, has dumped her - by text message no less. Her business partner went off to India with no notice and now Lara must accompany her parents to the funeral of her great-aunt Sadie, age 105. Lara didn't even know Sadie, who had been living in a nursing home for 27 years. The funeral, attended by only seven people, couldn't have been more depressing. Suddenly, just before the conclusion of the funeral, she hears a strident voice, asking over and over, Where is my necklace? Then, she sees a young woman lounging in a chair in the funeral parlor dressed in 1920's style clothing. Even more astonishing is that only Lara sees her. Thus begins a delightfully zany ghost story about Lara and her great aunt Sadie and the search for the lost necklace. Along the way, Lara learns a lot about herself, Sadie, London and dancing the Charleston. The author, Sophie Kinsella, is best known for her Shopaholic series. This stand-alone title is humorous and touching and has enough suspense to keep you turning the pages.

This book was different from Ms. Kinsella's previous works, but had a very fresh angle. Sadie's character literally whined a lot in the beginning, but once that ended the book was good.

I'd give this book 4.5/5 stars just because it was a new twist on chick lit.

I listened to this book on CD recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ms.Kinsella has a wonderful knack for helping young women who don't seem capable of much into delightful heroines.
