Black Box Improv Theater
Founder Justin Howard has performed, studied and taught improv in Chicago and New York City. He started The Black Box in 2012 and more than 300 Daytonians have studied at the theater; many currently perform on weekends. The Black Box has teamed with long time Second City musical great Trey Stone to provide shows that push the boundaries of what many couldn’t imagine locally trained comedians can do.
Dayton Contemporary Dance Company
The Bessie Award-winning DCDC is the oldest modern dance company in Ohio. It is one of just a handful of performing arts organizations of international reputation, not based in a major metropolitan area. DCDC serves as a cultural ambassador for Dayton, the Miami Valley and the state of Ohio. Each year the company reaches approximately 30,000 people through performances and education programming.
